Who and What are MHS?
Alan Montague founded Montague Heritage Services in 1998,
having completed a media studies course and later graduating
from Dún Laoghaire College of Art & Design where he studied Radio Broadcasting.
Throughout this time Alan had been involved in various re-enactment hobby groups but after careful deliberation decided to start a business with the purpose of "bringing history to life!"
From little acorns grew a business which at various points employed over 50 people
to portray different aspects of Irish history.
During this time Alan also became intrigued with Hiberno-Viking silver and with a little help from a Heritage Council grant and a lot of tenacity he became adept at reproducing exacting copies of the originals.
There were many firsts, for MHS with Alan at the helm and there should have been more, cruelly Alan was taken from us too soon. After a chance discovery of a malignant brain tumour in 2002, Alan eventually lost his personal battle on June 3rd 2009.
Jessica de Búrca - Montague
I met Alan at college and from day one we were inseparable. It is my goal to continue the excellence which Alan exacted of himself and of those that worked with him.
Montague Heritage Services
is undoubtedly in a period of transition but we are still
providing the same level of quality, authenticity and commitment.
Alan has left me with two beautiful children, a thriving business and circle of friends & colleagues which anyone would be proud of. I am duty bound and honoured to take the helm at Montague Heritage Services and continue with "...bringing history to life!"
